User’s Guide

This year’s annual report of the Commonwealth Department of Family and Community Services–the fourth–has a new look and structure for ease of access and readability.

The User’s Guide is designed to tell you about the features of the design of the online report and the contents.

The links below will enable you to navigate within this page.

This year the report has been restructured to meet the needs of our readers–Senators, Members and the public.

The table of contents page shows the structure of the online report and will enable you to access the text. It is divided into sections to help you navigate through the report:

Firstly is information about the department, the portfolio structure and the achievements and challenges for FaCS during 2001-02.
Performance reporting provides the reporting framework of FaCS business using the three outcomes to set the context and is divided into the three outcomes: Stronger Families, Stronger Communities, and Economic and Social Participation.
Management and accountability details additional reporting requirements: Corporate governance, Enabling our people, Environmental management, External scrutiny, Financial management, Information strategies and technology management, Internal controls, Ministerial and parliamentary services, Partnerships for people, Right payments for the right people and the Social Security Appeals Tribunal.
The Appendixes includes details about Advertising and market research, Commonwealth Disability Strategy performance report, Competitive tendering and contracting, Consultants, Discretionary grants, Freedom of Information, Legislation and Staffing overview.

At the top of the table of contents is a link to the List of figures and tables page which provides a directly link to each throughout the report.
