Stronger Families and Communities Strategy 2004-2009 Evaluation
In August 2004, the then FaCSIA called for tenders to design and implement the evaluation of the Stronger Families and Communities Strategy (SFCS) 2004-2009. A consortium of the Social Policy Research Centre (SPRC), University of New South Wales and Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS) was selected. FaHCSIA negotiated agreements with the Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS) and the Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth (ARACY) to offer support services to the Stronger Families and Communities Strategy projects (2004-2009).Australian Institute of Family Studies
Communities and Families Clearinghouse Australia (CAFCA)The Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS) is an independent statutory authority established by the Commonwealth Government in February 1980 to promote the identification and understanding of factors affecting marital and family stability in Australia. The AIFS has been provided funding from the Stronger Families and Communities Strategy for the Communities and Families Clearinghouse Australia (CAFCA).
CAFCA offers the following services:
- A library of resources including an internet site, Library help desk, Library collection and a Clearinghouse database of SFCS projects.
- Maintenance of a website and e-discussion list (CAFCA Chat) for SFCS projects to facilitate communication among stakeholders.
Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth (ARACY)
Capacity Building Program and Evidence Request ServicesARACY, led by the former Australian of the Year, Professor Fiona Stanley, AC is a prominent advocate for early childhood development initiatives. Established in 2002, it brings together researchers, practitioners and policy makers from a range of disciplines to create and share knowledge to promote the health, development and wellbeing of children and young people.
ARACY delivers capacity building and evidence request services to the Communities for Children initiative, in the form of
- A series of targeted Capacity Building Workshops both face to face and electronically via webinars,
- Three Annual National Capacity Building conferences, and
- Access to the latest evidence and Australia Research expertise in the area of early childhood through topical papers.
