Representation and Rights
FaHCSIA manages Australian Government funding to disability peak bodies and organisations to ensure that people with disabilities, and their families and carers, have representation and rights as well as a voice in the community and in the political arena.
- National Disability Advocacy Program
Assistance for people with disabilities, and their families and carers, to get involved in community life as fairly and as fully as possible.
- Consumer Training and Support
Assistance for people with disabilities to participate in and better understand quality assurance processes within their disability employment service.
- Disability Peak Bodies
Represents disability employment service providers and the interests of people with disabilities, their families and carers.
- National Disability and Carer Ministerial Advisory Council
This Council provides advice to the Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs on disability and carer issues relevant to the portfolio.
- Australian National Disability Service Abuse and Neglect Hotline Service and Website
A nationally accessible telephone service to report abuse and neglect of people with disabilities in government-funded services.
- International Participation in Disability Issues
Working with international organisations, including the United Nations, on policy development and research for international disabilities issues.
