2003 Six Countries Meeting (Uluru, NT, and Sydney, NSW, Australia)
Coming Together to Make a Difference
The former Commonwealth Department of Family and Community Services hosted the 2003 Six Countries Meeting at Uluru in the Northern Territory, and Sydney, New South Wales.Held every eighteen months, the Six Countries Meeting brings together Chief Executive Officers of national social security agencies from Australia, Britain, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and the United States of America for top-level discussions on major issues in social welfare policy.
Preparation for the meeting, included discussion papers, session times and program for the week, was coordinated in liaison with the other five countries.
The meeting provides an opportunity for them to exchange information on approaches being tried by comparable social security organisations in countries facing similar social issues.
