Footprints in Time - The Longitudinal Study of Indigenous Children (LSIC)

LSIC Home | Design Steering Committee | Contact the LSIC Team | Publications

Footprints in Time is the name given to the Longitudinal Study of Indigenous Children (LSIC), an Australian Government initiative announced in the 2003/04 budget. The study aims to improve the understanding of, and policy response to, the diverse circumstances faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, their families, and communities. Footprints in Time will provide a data resource that can be drawn on by Australian governments, researchers, service providers, parents and communities. This resource will provide a better insight into how a child's early years affect the way they develop and mature.

Footprints in Time: LSIC has an important long-term objective - one that will inform Australian governments and communities about how programs and services can achieve positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. In partnership with Indigenous communities, governments will be able to help guide where further work is needed most. For more information on Footprints in Time: LSIC, read our Consultation paper.
