This initiative provides funding to volunteer resource centres to provide quality volunteer management and training activities, as well as assistance and training to organisations that use volunteers. The National Volunteer Skills Centre, which is being managed by Volunteering Australia, provides organisations and volunteers with access to training materials. Volunteer Grants 2010 contributes towards the costs of training courses, background checks, small equipment and fuel costs incurred by community volunteers in the course of their volunteer activities.
